I would if I could, but I can't. I do way too many extra-curricular activities in school (bassline captain, student body vp, debate) for winter sports. If wrestling were a spring sport like track i could do it, but my winters are packed. Damn near all of my friends wrestle though, thats really why i started jujitsu, tkd blows when your screwing around w/ wrestlers.

TKD blows when screwing around with anything but TKD.

I hate when someone jumps in the bandwagon....usually the first sign that a style is going to go down the drain.

You already have people claiming to teach some BJJ (but aren't qualified to), next you will have some guy giving BJJ belts via videos and then people saying they developed their own art with BJJ and whatever while only having a blue in BJJ.

BJJ is self-correcting. A ranked practioner will usually show up and ruin their **** in public, thereby fixing the problem.

I think stuff like this has already happened, but like it was stated earlier BJJ is self correcting. If you go to a tournament and claim to be a blue belt, but you have only trained via video or internet. Then your gonna get your ass handed to you.

You know, when I say that this thread was about brazilian-japanese hybrids, I though we were going to talk about something like this:

    I guess I was wrong :tongue3:
Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. New: On strenght standards, relationships and structural balance. Shoulder problems? Read this.

My crapuous vlog and my blog of training, stuff and crap. NEW: Me, Mrs. Macho and our newborn baby.

New To Weight Training? Get the StrongLifts 5x5 program and Rippetoe's "Starting Strength, 2nd Ed". Wanna build muscle/gain weight? Check this article. My review on Tactical Nutrition here.

t-nation - Dissecting the deadlift. Anatomy and Muscle Balancing Videos.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris
