The percentage of the price of petrol at the pump which is tax is about 80% in the UK according to this debate recorded in Hansard (somebody was trying to introduce a bill which would make it law that the percentage of the price which was tax would have to be displayed at pumps) :-

That alone would keep me from ever getting it. A survival pistol that is to be put into a BOB has to be first and foremost utterly and completly reliable. a great deal of tuner 1911's get scrubbed from that list because of finicky appetites in terms of ammo and magazine/parts. Glocks may not be everybodys cup of tea but for flawless performance with a huge range of ammo types in a variety of conditions they are hard to be (just stay away from the .40 ones).

Cant help but notice that MBR's got left out of the weapons that may be needed in a SHTF scenario. If i had a choice to only one long arm, it wouldnt be a shotty. a .308 battle rifle gives you 5 times the range, more accuracy and increased ammo capacity and carry allowance in roughly the same weight class. Ammo is sure as hell cheaper and very very widely available. -
