What would be sweet would be to get Marc Scott in here to talk about his experience. I didn't get to see it very good due to my poor angle.

Nice, I didn't know you had gotten promoted as well. Sweetnes! Looking forward to hearing about the fight. My viewpoint was blocked but it looked awesome.

Like most of my matches it was a bit of a blur. I can say though that Crafty, Cisco and I had worked knife against stick a week before the gathering. Of course when it came time to fight I threw the strategy we worked on out the window.

Island Dog maintained distance annd got off some good strikes against my support arm (left forearm), I knew there was no way I could stay out the distance and I would need to close the gap. I decided to use a kick to try to stuff Island Dog so he coulldn't get off another hit. When I did get the kick off I followed it in and went for the takedown (my standard MO).

I can't even remember how we were on the ground but I started to get off a few slashed with the knife, at this point Island dog did a kimura on my knife arm, there was no pain but it was immobolized, so I switched hands from there it was pretty much over since I had positional control and was able to use my knife while pinning Island Dog.

I was more aware of the knife and tried to treat it with more respect throughout the fight making sure that I didn't stab myself by accident. That was one of the great benefits of the shock kinfe, it keeps you honest, the bad side of it is that the batteries run out really fast and that you manually have to press a button to make it shock.

My hat is off to you for stepping up to the knife vs stick. Don't know which one I'd pick if I had the balls to do that. The stick is good from the start and if you can maintain the distance you can land some nice hard shots. The knife is good once you close the distance and realisticly speaking should win a majority of the time. I have a feeling this is going to be a staple of the Gatherings from now on with Crafty pushing more people to do it. That being said, were I man enough to step up I'd start by being the stick man. Perhaps C-Poidog will venture first into this and give me a sit rep. (Or maybe he'll just kick my ass for asking, he does owe me one big time from yesterday... after I, well, I'll let him tell it if he wants too...)
