Any Maryland folks taking BJJ at BXF in Severna Park?

I'm trying to decide between taking it there and at Baltimore BJJ. I took a class at Baltimore BJJ last week and loved it. The only problem is that it's about 40 minutes from home while BXF is about 3 minutes from home. I know Duke and Lee are both Maguilla Purple belts, so their classes are probably very similair. I'm just wondering how much class time is spent doing non-BJJ training. I'm definitely more interested in Gi BJJ than MMA and Dukes class is listed as MMA on the BXF website.

Maguilla's guys are very good from what i have heard so whoever you choose should be good.

I've been to Ground Control's website before. It looks like a very good MMA school, but getting into the city in the evening is fucked.

I'm sure that I want to go to one of these two schools. I was just hoping to hear from somebody who takes Duke's class at BXF about how much time is spent doing things other than BJJ and submission grappling. I don't mind doing some MMA, but I don't want to do primarily MMA.

Getting into the city in the evening shouldn't be a problem.

It's getting out that sucks.

I don't think you could ask for a better school the Ground Control. Rallo is a great dude (kicks self in the pants for not getting up there lately).

I've got a friend who's visited BaltimoreBJJ and Ground Control, I'll get his opinion for you.

As for BXF, we've got people on BS who train there (Shadowdean), so someone should be along to answer you shortly.

And it's not "Maryland folks".

It's MD Hedz.

I go to Ground Control and i make it a point to visit the other local gyms just to see whats up.In my humble opinion you cant go wrong at GC. Im not knocking the other schools its just they are relatively new and dont have the same talent pool as GC does yet.Quality instruction is just part of the equation you need good guys to roll against as well. Arent you a big guy ? We have some big guys down at groundcontrol.

Drop by on a wednesday and talk to Mark Finley who is a Rickson brown belt if you are interested in doing mostly Gi work.

I would also recommend checking out 88 BJJ @ www.88bjj.com in Elkridge right off Rt 1. The school is run by Lloyd Irvin purple belt Julius Park. Julius is a great instructor and competitor. Julius will be in Brazil soon for the Mundials and I'll be covering a few classes starting next week.

I've heard good things about Lloyd's school. What is the monthly fee? I hate to sound like a cheap ass, but I gotta clear all expenses with the boss, if ya know what I mean. BJJ can be quite expensive as you know.
