As someone with no experience in this field, I gotta say that thing looks pretty fucking badass! The whole SF thing seems fishy, and I can't see myself ever buying that thing though, as im sure it would be totally overpriced and completely un-necessary for anything I would be doing.

Still, if zombies ever take over and I find myself locked in an army surplus store, im definetely taking that along for the ride!

Its fucking rediculous is what it is.

Machetes are too thin to be effectively used as an axe, which is really the only real reason I can imagine that would necessitate that second hand hold.
The whole thing just strikes me as useless.

Well not to say it couldn't kill someone.

I agree 100%. It's a totally impratical LARP toy for Sci-Fi geeks and loser Spec-Ops wannabes.

What the hell is so special about that machete? Or of any machete in general? They are just agrarian tools, from cutting grass and branches and clearing fields to chopping small to midsize trees.

Machetes can be used as improvised weapons. People carry them for that purpose, too, but that role is usually secondary. They aren't swords, just oversized one-blade gardening scissors. :biblethum

I roll my eyes backwards everytime I see these ridiculous special forces machetes or people assigning some sort of cool martial aura to them. The idea of a specialized machete for special forces is just the concontion of somebody having one daylight fantasy too many... like this dude :)

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

Considering the nature of special forces ie behind enemy lines, counter insurgency etc.. it makes sense for them to use a non-descript machette they pick up at wally mart instead on dishing out big bucks for a signature machette that might give their presence away if found.

I use a 10 dollar machette that way I don't care of I lose it or some jerk borrows it and tries to chop a rock in half.

That thing is gay. I don't need a big fancy killin knife. I'm not going to be stabbing fuckers in combat. Besides I got 100 other things to worry about.

The idea of a special forces blade in general is fucking ludicrous

It's the fucking 21st century, we use GUNS.
They give you a side arm for a REASON.

To expect to EVER use a blade in combat is just kind of silly.

I think for a survival tool you want a heavy Kukri design.

This thread should clear up the misconceptions of using a machete against zombies: They get stuck in skulls. Use a bat.

They aren't swords, just oversized one-blade gardening scissors.

One: They are nice because they are usually very sturdy, and they have a nice weight to them so when you swing you can get some serious momentum going, great for hacking through underbrush as you pointed out.
Also excellent for hacking limbs, the thing about a machete is that much like a chainsaw it is one of those things that for one reason or another naturally fucking frightening to most human beings.
    Swords don't have the same
"I'm going to dismember and hide your body parts in my basement"
    flare two them.

Two: Saying machetes are oversized one bladed scissors is kinda like saying that a whale is just a legless, furless, brine eating, over sized bear.
