Does High School Wrestling Suck?

We were taught how to shoot in 6th grade at my junior high.

Of course, this being Texas, everyone already knew how to shoot. But it was fun to see wannabe thugs try and shoot pistols in that ridiculous turned-to-the-side manner and smack themselves from the recoil.

Heavy drug use is connected to TKD abuse . The numbers aren't clear as to which one leads to which ... but there is a a link .

I really regret not joining. Most of the kids I hated in school were on the team. Looking back on it, I should have joined just to kick their ass. All those other benefits satori was talking about would have been nice too.

Wish we had those kinda sports in Spain... or a decent PE program in highschool for that matter. Lately they're cutting on PE hours at schools ang HS... and they wonder how is it that children are getting fatter every day (spanish children are the most obese of Europe, yay for Spain!).

I was going to join the wrestling team to supplement my karate, but wound up getting a new job at the same time wrestling season started, and didn't want to immediately ask for time off. So that was a no-go, but at least I built a solid foundation in striking before I started BJJ.

The best grapplers at my gym were high school wrestlers. They do BJJ and Shooto stuff now, but they have a lot of base skills that late-comers such as myself can't match and can probably never catch up to.

Whether your High School wrestling sucks depends largely upon the coaches you have and level of competition in the conference you compete in.
I am an assistant coach with a local high school wrestling program which took first in the dual meet championships and sent several wrestlers to the provincial championships..so I would argue that our program does NOT suck.

My high school had a GREAT wrestling team (would produce All-Staters regularly and the occasional All American every now and again). Too bad I was thinking, "Man, I don't need that I've got t3h Shaolin Do." The things I would do over again...
