Apparently when they would do their goofy grappling drill, this guy just wrapped him up and he couldn't escape from a standing RNC. The guy had little to no grappling experience at the time, but would've had a weight and strength advantage.

    So...LOL@Systema
You're an advocate for systema, yet here you are mocking them?

Systema can't handle one-on-one RNC's but they can survive mass attacks? I just don't get it.

New information leads to a change in attitude. I didn't know that guy from my club had RNC'ed their instructor while barely knowing anything about grappling. I also didn't know the guy who went there a couple years got dummied by our newbie. Now I do.

I would've believed just viewing the systema footage alone would be proof enough to make an informed opinion. It's quite evident systema practitioners can't fight, though one is hard pressed to convince them otherwise. Should we really be surprised Arkadiy Stepankovskiy is dead?

Ah, reality is such a cruel taskmaster. :toothy10:

Speaking of RNC and systema, there is this thread on the official Systema forums regarding escaping the RNC. http://www.russianmartialart.com/for...er=asc&start=0

Some of the info is good, some is (very) bad.

But it ends with these videos: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FnVKZDPqxL0

well ... erm ... uh ... * giggles at the thumb to the jaw pressure point * well he sunk that wristlock :qleft1: .

But I wasn't seeing much that impressed me besides what I feel is massively flawed methodology for ground fighting . I really like that whole "position before submission" line of thought , it seems to open up more options for finishing things instead of chancey wristlocks .

Don't get me wrong wristlocks can **** you up , but from that position I can think of two wristlocks I could resort too . One is bullshit , relies on inflexable wrists , ignorance of the technique , requires both hands on one of their arms and looks most like the video . The other is not one I would try on a fully resisting training partner becouse of the danger of fucking up their wrist ... and the slim chance of actualy sinking it .

3 mountain choke huh ? Not sure what to say about it ... except it looked more painfull than an effective choke . Nothing wrong with trying to compress the trechea . You can get a pain submission or even a wind choke if do not care about the recipients ease of swallowing later .

The no touch KO thing lardo does that makes the guy collapse, I could show that to anyone I know and they'd say "That's bullshit dude". I fear for the sanity of anyone who watches those clips and thinks it's real. It's bullshit.
Straight punches make you go blind. More damage is done to a criminals nervous system when they are struck. Strikes that make you stronger. All this and more systema douchebaggery:

They don't do THAT ridiculous of crap at the class here. It looks much less gay, the stuff they do, than the stuff in the videos. It still sucks, but it doesn't suck as badly.

My initial exposure, and 99% onward from there was watching these guys do their drills in class, not videos on the internet.

It looks less gay, but it's still gay. There are plenty of classes that actually do the stuff out of the clips, lol. Some of the guys that post here are featured in the videos...

It's awesome that you actually have more experience in systema than their most fervid online crusader: DdlR. I'm glad your mind wasn't feeble enough to fall victim to their proselytism. A couple more months believing and you'd be flying over to russia for a seminar where the particpants dance around the fat russian pretending to hit him, while he punches them in their heads.

I don't think I ever would've been sucked into thinking it was anything great. I just didn't think it sucked completely...and now I do.
