    TMA vs LARPing

How to tell if its Kung Fu (insert random TMA here) or LARPing? Basically Kung Fu used to be Kung Fu way back in the day, and now its LARPing about 99.578% of the time. If you go to a KF school, and you come home feeling like you think you can fight, youre LARPing. If you go to a Kung Fu school and you come home with bruises from head to toe, sore muscles in places you didnt even know you had muscles, like your hair...and you wish you would be shown some techniques instead of standing in a horse stance for several minutes to half an hour while holding big pickle jars full of water out at your sides with your fingertips and getting the crap kicked out of you despite your best efforts by some old chinese guy till you think you are gonna puke and he is really starting to make you racist against chinese by insisting on calling you gwailo, the whole time he is laughing as he beats your head in. You MAY be learning Kung Fu. But basically if you enjoy your KF school you're LARPing with a side of halfassery... This is most disconcerting to me since I practice KF since the early 80's along with other arts, most notably Judo. At any rate KF these days is second in McDojos only to TKD in my view, and absolutely first in LARPing.

If your Kungfu school competes at leitai, it's not LARPing.
