    Intro

    Hey,

I'm a 22-year-old guy who's been interested in MA for years, but I've never really done anything about it. I'm 6'6", weigh about 260 pounds, and have been powerlifting (or at least lifting heavy weights on my own; I've never been formally trained) for about five years. Powerlifting will probably always be my central passion as far as physical activity is concerned, but I'd also like to learn some basic fighting skills at the very least.

Here's a quick summary of my very limited MA experience:

When I was nine or ten, I was enrolled in a kenpo class at a place called Bobby Lawrence Karate. In retrospect, the place was a total McDojo. It was

From the sound of it, you don't seem like somebody who needs anything for self-defense.

I like a man that can use me as a javelin.

Could you like, throw my car into a building so I can collect insurance?

Later I'm going to finish what I started writing in my first post and then repost. But to quickly address the issue of whether I really need to know how to fight--well, no, I don't. Nobody ever bothers me. But there are a lot of things I'd *like* to learn (motorcycle mechanics, to give one random example) that I don't really *need* to learn. Fighting fascinates me and I want to learn how. I can't really explain it any more than that.
