Is this Traditional Jiu Jitsu !?!

I have been toying with the idea of joining a traditional jjj school. The one near me is a Kito Ryu school, however after seeing these clips on traditional jjj I may give it a miss.Surley jjj can be less theatrical and more street applicable then what these clips show?Any opinions ?

Do you have a link for the specific school you are considering? To be honest there is so much variance, more detail is required to give an honest opinion.

First. Kito Ryu is a real Japanese Jujutsu that was very influencial in the creation of Judo.

Second. I seriously doubt that was real Kito Ryu.

Why try to make some obscure something or other work for you instead of going to a place that already does what you want?

First, remember, these are demonstration clips. As such they will be theatrical in what they are showing. As such you can't really jugde what their training will be like.

Stop by their palce for a class and see what their training is like. If you have a chance ask the head instructor about his lineage, where and from whom he earned his teaching license, and what is expected of new students. Then post the details, at least the ones about his licensing, either here or on E-Budo, to see if anyone can verify it.

If it looks like somewhere you'd enjoy training and the students are getting the kinds of results from their training that you want then go for it. If it turns you off and what they're doing isn't what you want to be doing be pleasant but move on.

He's in Siberia. Somehow I don't get the feeling that there are Dojos around every corner.

Those clips were annoying. They combined good techniques with really crappy unrealistic bullshit. That might have been just a few of the upper belts fucking around for shits and giggles. Its ahrd to get a feel for the school from a clip. Check it out and see if they actually try and teach you that stuff. If they do, leave.

Those clips look almost completely improvised. Like those guys haven't really tried it a lot before deciding to do this demo for film..

If they do teach stuff like this, then run, don't walk from that place.

The videos don't really say much.. But if this is the type of advertising you want to represent your club then chances are the club sucks.

So you CAN check it out.. but I doubt this is very good JJ
