ADDED BY WHITESHARK: This is a great example of how anyone can get out on the mat and put some of what they are learning to the test. If more Newbs posted threads like this Bullshido would be a friendlier place.

You may not agree with their exact technique but these guys deserve props for getting out of their comfort zone and testing stuff on their own.

Just two clips of us sparring today. We were wrapping up the TKD club were in @ 4 and I had intended to tape more but I completely forgot I brought the camera so we just had a few short rounds, only two of which were filmed thanks to our expert cameraman. Anyway I'm the short red belt in the first clip, my bro is the one in both clips he's just having a laugh though, and the other guy in clip 2 is frankie who was in the point sparring clip (he's the guy who upended the other guy in that video). Anyway, enjoy and critique!!

Very nice, why is it so hard for people to do this?

Just that much sparring work with realistic speed and some consequinces makes the crap really apparent.

So your brother is the one in black pants in both videos?

Sparring without punches to the face always looks so silly to me (no offense)

None taken, But semi contact continuous sparring like this is easier to sell to other dojos. My overall goal is to have a catagory for this kind of sparring in local point contact competions. Headgear and face punching will hopefully come later if I can pull this off.

Was one of sparring rule, No strikes to head? Because no kicks or punches were thrown to head and look like as a result, hands weren't really 'up' to cover up head.

I would hardly call that continuous sparring considering you stop as soon as one guy falls on the ground.

These are the legal striking areas based on the rules we're working on:

The legal striking areas are as follows:
Kicks to the Head, Body, Thighs, Legs(sweeps)
Punches to the Body
Knees to the Body

Pretty standard Knockdown karate rules. I had a bunch of fights that way. Kyokushin rules are similar.

To be a douchbage.... If it stops, technically it's not continuous. If I am kickboxing and take someone down or knock them down I at least establish a dominant position before stopping. Smell blood the fights not over until you've gone in for the kill. But then again I'm coming from a MMA mindset. I think kickboxing rules with the exception of san shou are silly.

Anyhow... forget about me.... Props for hitting eachother and getting it on film.

Oh just one one moer thing... some of you need to keep your motherfucking hands up... That no head shot sparring is giving you bad habits.
