Oh, and they should be the sole inheritor of a secret and highly deadly style of martial arts as taught to them by their family friend/father's military buddy/adoptive uncle/handyman.

I hold a high degree in MA. A guy came in and asked me if I was a Master. I told him I would drop any my students on their head if they called me Master. I hate that term.

Master is a term that means lazy.

I'm the master, do it again 1,000 times, then come see me.

Oh, and you forgot to pay me $1,000 for telling you to do it again 1,000 times.
    Omega said it all.

A master should at no times display suckage, since even drunk and blindfolded, they will operate at a highly competent level.
Yeah, no masters. Not a lot of point in the thread then.

Someone with a high level of Mastery over the martial arts can say they don't wanna be called master. Someone like Omega has earned that right.

The rest of you are just making excuses.

and the thread is also about what you consider to be mastery of an art, not what you want to be called. If you do not have a quantified set of requirements to use to gauge this, what do you use?

I've actual said it a few time (asia put away the whip), no I mean what it is to be a master. That's a title bestowed upon you by your peers and students. If you force somebody to call you master than you are no master at all. If you appear to be a master then you are. Sort of like an asshole, everybody calls me an asshole therefore I must be......wait that didn't come out right.
