i don't know but you gotta remember that when savate got invented and later codified it was assumed you'd be wearing a good pair of boots or something.
so when it got reduced to boxe francaise for sport purposes it inhereted the toe kicks, and thats what the leotards are, just a sport, with all the arbitrary rules that implies.
historically savate also includes some grappling (lutte francaise), weapons fighting (canne, batton, knife) and the kicky/punchy part (from chausson and english boxing) for a more complete art.
course i'd put a steel toed boot against a MT shin any day as far as things i don't want to be hit in the head with

Sirc, you don┤t get DQ┤d right away. Couple of warnings first. Also, blocking with shin ß la MT is forbidden, but you can block with shoe. Example, guy telegraphs kick and you stop it by throwing front kick his shin or thigh as he chambers it.

One thing. Boxe is a feminine noun in the French language, thus, the correct term would be Boxe Franšaise.
I don't know it it makes any difference, but Savate was "invented", I think, in the late 19th century (not sure) anyway, it was "invented" by the police, and back then there was still that whole thing with being a gentleman and all that. Kind of like old boxing, where they had that weird guard and basicaly took turns punching...

Yeah, but that means kicks to the nuts, elbows, knees IMO. Not the supersecret
pressure point stuff. Should that happen, I┤d be first to go and kick the one who claims that.:eusa_sile

Style: Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku
The canne fighting is pretty ghey from what I saw on that fitness show. They wear very chinese like attire and spin it around like crazy.

Just a bit of advice from el senor newbie here... never diss a martial art because it has big circular or spinny moves. The same moves that everybody completely disses as impactical in one-on-one fighting save your ass when you're playing multiple opponents, and you have to either control space or get stomped. Try it a few times if you don't believe me... those circular moves are the direct natural result of the line-changing you have to do to with your weapon. Same with the big loopy kicks. You get stomped one-on-one using them unless your opponent drops his guard or does other stupid shiat... but if you're sparring two or three on one, they're freaking lifesavers.
Which isn't to say that everybody who twirls a stick like a damned drum majorette in a parade knows why it's in their style, don't get me wrong -- but ghey it's NOT.

Oddly enough, I've wanted to try this style out for a while. It looks like my build was made for it. I'll probably visit France for a bit sometime in the future (after more Judo).
