    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Is there a good website for beginners showing grappling techniques and names?

I don't mean to sound like a total noob, but is there a decent website out there with some of the various graplping moves and pictures on it. Doesn't have to be BJJ or JJ specific. Just a good FAQ or whatever.

I didn't know what to google, or to search here, so apologize if this has been repeated over and over.

Sometimes I'm reading threads, and get lost because of all the names and positions. Some are self explanatory, but some are just like latin to me.

Can you help a brother out so I can start enjoying some of the discussions a little bit more?

Just use bjj.org for BJJ techs and when the Judo guys start pulling out the wacky Japanese names, I just Google Image Search the term. Not hard, really. For example, try "juji gatame".

lockflow.com has a lot of techniques and instructions, some good some bad.

I hope you're not going to start trying this stuff out with no proper instruction and you just want to understand the lingo.

A fuckton of bad. But there's some decent stuff as well. mmalibrary.com is good, subfighter.com is good, grapplearts.com is good . . . hmm. Those are the ones I've been shown, at least.

Deer Boxer: You'll soon find out that grapplers don't always know a lot of the terms either. The best way to develop an extensive vocabulary for grappling terminology is to be a grappling forum/instructional whore.

Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. New: On strenght standards, relationships and structural balance. Shoulder problems? Read this.

My crapuous vlog and my blog of training, stuff and crap. NEW: Me, Mrs. Macho and our newborn baby.

New To Weight Training? Get the StrongLifts 5x5 program and Rippetoe's "Starting Strength, 2nd Ed". Wanna build muscle/gain weight? Check this article. My review on Tactical Nutrition here.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris
