    Sweetness...

Now, how about some commentary, since just posting vid clips is rude.

While I'm sure that some of these guys have forgotten more than I'll ever know about muay thai, in the 3rd clip I saw a lot of blocking kicks with arms. I've been out of training for a long time now, but I was under the impression that if you were able to, you should shin check a kick rather than absorbing it on the arms. Perhaps one more enlightened than me on the subject could offer an explanation as to why they're blocking leg kicks with their arms.

Well if you look they aren't taking the kick. Atleast not taking the shin. They're stopping the thigh. It seems they are more interested in just quickly deflecting shots and then stepping in for the clinch. Of course, I'm not sure how effective that would be at full speed but then again.. its a drill.

The "sword" fighting was kind of lame IMO. Looks like repetitive attacks along pre-determined lines, in set rythym, and they only hit each others sticks. Do they ever try to hit each other, or is the point of the excercise to make that cool "clickity clack"sound? They are very quick and athletic, but that's not realistic weapon training.

Wasn't impressed with the stick work in video #2. The 3 students vs the master, they could have cracked him in the head a few times if they wanted. That's why I hate "live demos" to prove your art. "Hey guy, check it, I can handle my own against three guys" Pssh, give me a break. My instructor would give you props if you could best him too bad I suck way to bad to even get close.

Fortunately they aren't representative of most Krabi Krabong pracitioners in the states, the vast majority of whom got into the art by a) doing muay thai, or b) doing full contact FMA tournaments. The Dog Brothers incorparate a lot of Krabi Krabong into their technique, frex.

^^^ Yeah Deoz, this thread is like deja vou. Doublepost requires you to pluck every single pubic, anal and armpit hair you have, make a whip with them and flog yourself with it to death. :seppuku:
Read this for flexibility and injury prevention, this, this and this for supplementation, this on grip conditioning, and this on staph. New: On strenght standards, relationships and structural balance. Shoulder problems? Read this.

My crapuous vlog and my blog of training, stuff and crap. NEW: Me, Mrs. Macho and our newborn baby.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris
