Blue vs. White...

I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed elsewhere. I tried the search option, but to no avail. I'm hoping to start taking classes at Alliance for BJJ. Does it really matter whether one wears a blue or a white gi? I noticed that about 80% of the class that I watched wears white ones. Is there a reason why more people prefer white ones? I figured blue wouldn't look quite so dirty so quickly compared to white ones.

Usually it is personal preference but ask the instructor.

I wear blue top with white pants because it's hawt.

One of our blues wears the red gamness.

in most schools, i dont think it matters if you wear a white or blue gi. I prefer the blue myself just because i like the color.

I guess I don't want to offend anyone by wearing the wrong colored gi. The school sells both white and blue so I'm thinking it should be okay, but I wanted to ask around since I didn't want to go into my first class and have everyone try to choke me out or something because I'm wearing the wrong color.

While I understand your concern about proper attire, rest assured that everyone will try to choke you out regardless of what you wear.

Blue doesn't look quite as dingy and gross with sweat stains after a year of solid training.

that only happens when you are a newbie and show up to class with a gi that has way too many patches on it. JK

Dont worry about it. get whatever color you like.
