No, what he didn't tell you was that it was not a competition and that the blue belt was working the weak areas of his game... Oh wait - he did say they were just rolling. In all fairness, the first time as white and you tap a blue it definately makes you start thinking about advancement...

I love taking notes on my bjj classes. While I'm on the mat there's just too much going on - too many thoughts to keep it all straight. Once I get home, I sit for a good 20 minutes writing down what we drilled, what worked, what didn't, and tips for me (make that leg heavier, hip out more, use your head etc.)
Before I go to train I read my entries from my last few days of training, and if I don't make the same mistake I did earlier, damn that feels good. Nothing keeps me motivated like seeing progress, and the best way to do that is to write down everything so that you know exactly where you stand.-Jordan -
