    Speaking of Wing Chun...

Found this video that might perk some interest - a WC master fighting against a non-compliant student. It's interesting to watch, considering that the man in black shows he is very firm with what he is doing. I've seen no one mention this video yet on the forums, so I thought I should bring it up:

Looks very direct, and it's nice and fast. I can't stop watching it.

No, there is no "fighting" in that video. Do you know why? I'll give you a hint: it has something to do with how humans do or do not react to being hit. Think about that for a moment...

Okay, sparring then. So it wasn't anything hardcore, but at least there was some good form during the session.

And what happens to that form when fighting full contact? Especially against someone who is not a _ing __un fighter?

Yea. That was a good wing chun video. It was a bad sparring video.

Face it. Even the best WC sparring looks like ****. I learned real quick that all you have to do to defeat a WC trapping technique is rush. Hands up, forearms cover you and rush. Then clinch and your ok! WC needs to die.

Well, you don't want to hear theories, so I can't really tell you anything.

I sparred a few people back when I was still in college, but I didn't exactly record the sessions when I was doing them, so there's not much point in me describing them in text.

That is, if you want me to (and possibly bring forth another flame session on this thread, which I don't want).

Theories are fine, as long as one can also show the results. It is the second part that _ing __un has trouble coming up with.

I can talk about theories for boxing or MMA, but then I can show you TONS of videos of full contact fighting, showing those theories successfully working in action. That's the part that is lacking in _ing __un. Theories by themselves, without empirical evidence to back them up, don't mean much. Unless you are talking theoretical physics, but fighting is not mathematics.

Well, I'm acquainted with someone who used to be in the Martial Arts club (back in my college) along with me; he's long since graduated and is now a restaurant owner, and he's a sort of MMAist as a hobby (but he loves it to death). I've sparred with him before, and I offered to do another bout with him and he agreed.

Whenever that happens, I'll see if I can bring my digital camera and record the session. Hopefully this summer, but I'm not so sure, since I'm pretty busy these days.

Why aren't there videos all over the Internet of full contact fighting using _ing __un? There are for boxing. And kickboxing. And Judo. And BJJ. And MMA. And wrestling. Etc. Why not _ing __un? Why are the videos so hard to come by?
