Congratulations! At our school you just walk through a line of everyone ranked above you and they get as many shots as they can. I'm already thinking of asking someone to walk infront of me so I just put my hands on their shoulders and walk as slow as they go...

How do rituals like that start? Seriously, that is some fucked up ****. At my school, people are HAPPY when someone gets promoted, they don't try to take away your moment from you.

Although I understand having to spar against everyone above you to repress the grade going to your head, this ass wipping is strange....Martial Arts is like sex, if you over complicate it with exotic sounding names, theories and principles, you end up fucking yourself in the ass. -Ronin69

Hardly, friendly beatings are a common ritual, especially in subcultures where fighting and toughness are advocated. It is a bonding moment between you and your classmates. Plus, the way it works out, you get to hit a lot more than you get hit... get your hits in, your teammates will.
