    ROTFL....
    Martial Arts is like sex, if you over complicate it with exotic sounding names, theories and principles, you end up fucking yourself in the ass. -Ronin69

    Not to defend this dude *at all*, but it's a real word (修験者 -- yamabushi is more common) and some shugendo practitioners were known for things like long distance running and some martial arts. I have a feeling he chose shugenja instead of yamabushi because, y'know D&D and Legend of the Five Rings has 'em.

    Anyway:

    [QUOTE=Radeera]

    I've edited some of the OP for clarity:

    The guy who teaches it, Paul Wilms, appeared to be a 20 year old roleplaying game enthusiast, and showed me a rice scroll apparently sent from Grand Master Soke Masaaki Hatsumi that he got when his monk made 10th level in the Temple of Elemental Evil. In addition, apparently his Jeet Kun Do can be traced to Bruce Lee through his teachers, as compared to everyone else's JKD which traces back to Howdy Doodie.

    What concerned me, among many things, was the way he stated that Ninjutsu was actually a martial art, and that he had fought muay thai experts and won but I think he was talking about World of Warcraft. In addition, he said something to the effect of people new to martial arts always enjoyed his ninjutsu, which means that people who don't know any better can't tell he's an idiot. His style of Ninjutsu, called Shugenja Ryu, [b]after his favourite Dungeons & Dragons character, is apparently founded by him, and looked like a mix of crap and worse crap. I'm not stating that starting a martial art is bad necessarily, I'm stating that starting a martial art as a 20 year old is completely impossible.

    The flyers he was handing out state that he teaches Ninjutsu, Jeet Kune Do, Shugenja Ryu, Kenpo, Tae Kwon Do, Wing Chun, Women's Self Defense, and Lil Ninja's for kids whatever that means. It seems wierd that he left out BJJ, MT, fencing, yoga, synchronized swimming, and chess. Must have run out of room on the flyer.
    Jesus loves you. I think you're an asshole.
