    Hell yeah! Hell no!
From some site, I saw applications of a taichi move called Repulse the Monkey. To be honest, I had no idea how they got the application from the move. But that video demonstrates a throw very similar to how Misaki did it.

I thought that site was Renaissance Tai Chi, but the site I remember is very different from what's there now. Some pics of a hot chick being terrible at taichi and bagwork:
    http://www.renaissancetaichichuan.com/media.html
    http://www.renaissancetaichichuan.co...planation.html

The whole site is now sex-appeal based, and comes off bad because of how bad those girls are at they thing they're selling.

Was he able to pull this off twice in the same fight?
Misaki fought very well in the first round, and got Phil pretty gassed and damaged his front leg with kicks. These two takedowns happened in middle of the second round. I think Misaki was looking to bring the fight to the ground, and had confidence that Phil was pretty tired and couldn't punch as hard.

    Cool, thanks.

I want to see the whole fight now. Sounds pretty good.

Also, if he was able to pull off the same tech. twice, not only in the same fight, but in the same ROUND, gassed or not, i wouldn't call that low percentage.

I wonder if Misaki intended osotogari or specifically the way he did it.

edit: the clip should be two different throws in sequence. No slo-mo.
Meh, I thought it was a replay :tard: the first takedown (or throw?) was so fast, I couldn't see ****. The second one, the osoto thingie, that's much clearer to see.

Does Misaki do judo or SanShou???? I've seen vidclips of SanShou fighters doing judo-like throws from the clinch and after a counterpunch. BTW, Karo has one instructional vid devoted to osoto gari no-gi. I've just seen demo clips from it where he used it as a counter to a takedown.

Osoto Gari. I wasn't aware that was taught in Tai Chi.

But then again, we were stepping behind each others legs and pushing each other down back in the 3rd grade without any training, so it isn't exactly secret rocket science.

Masaki is a GRABAKA guy. They do Judo, BJJ, Wrestling, etc but no Tajiquan AFAIK. So I think he was using a Osoto Gari henka.

I got a lead on the Chinese, possibly taichi version:
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=P_MTbF8KdfU

2:26 of the well-circulated Sanshou throws video.
It's called the Neck Cut Push.
    Is this exactly osotogari?
My friend said, "Oh, that's the Rock Bottom." Never seen that move.

Yes, the 'repulse monkey' application that used to be on Neil Rosiak's site is simillar to what's in the video. Neil Rosiak learned from the same guy my instructor learned from.

Tai Chi has some throws which are simillar looking to Judo (O-Goshi is there as well), as do many other CMA styles. They just tend to have fruity poetic names like 'white crane flaps its wings'.

I wish Neil Rosiak would leave the good content on his site. He used to have a decent selection of clips from San Shou fights and people practicing Tai Chi applications.

I think the greater sin is that some CMAs have fruity postures that can't be easily deciphered into applications. I think we had a thread on this where it was said that if you trained similar material, you might be able to pick out the intent of an open-air demo of a move, but it seems to be a waste as far as presenting your system that way. Blah blah blah kata/forms has other training benefits i know.

I wish Neil Rosiak would leave the good content on his site. He used to have a decent selection of clips from San Shou fights and people practicing Tai Chi applications.
I think the site is under construction, so it'll likely surface soon.
