I love the "mean" charge. As a bit of a tangent, on ANOTHER BOARD some "old lady" use to use that as the SUPREME insult towards anyone who dared question whatever fool opinion she had.

Then . . . it was shows "she" was the sockpuppet of another whiney poster.

Anyways, your MOM comes in to defend you! How pathetic is that?!!

I have always maintained that "junior" dan ranks and/or dan ranks for kids and teens are the main reason for "teh d34th" of martial arts.

This kid pretty much is the avatar for all that is wrong in martial arts:

    • Bullshido--the practice, not HERE!
      McDojos
Unreasonable expectations--"I can be a warrior!!"
      Unreasonable promises--"You ca become a warrior . . . without fighting!"
Dangerous philosophy--"You can beat them with spirit/character/chi/a nifty patch
      Unmartial intent
      Unmartial practice
      All intentions driven by money
      No responsibilty
      Rewards without merit
Excuses made for all of that

exactly. but you should see the parents that watch the children, they have this "wow, this instructor is the real deal!" kind of look.

edit: you added "more" contact for the second guy. please explain, cause i'm somewhat perplexed as to what the hell was going on here.
I added more contact meaning i actually kicked the guy- but not hard. the first guy i just really pushed around...

oh, I also failed to mention that this instructor is also a ballet teacher. he often wears spandex pants with a shirt that reads "I love dance" on the front of it.

he still gets a sh** load of krotty students though...

Oh my, it just keep getting "better."

    To Review: We have a:

    • 1. 16 year-old "sandan."
      2. Who does not actually study with anyone.
      3. Who is an "instructor."
      4. Whose students suck so badly his mommy complains.
      5. Who does no resistance or "non-compliant" training.
      6. Whose excuse is that he had his wisdom teeth removed.
      7. Whose mommy wants you to help with teaching.
      8. Whose mommy expects you to pay for giving this help.
      9. Who intends to be promoted to a rank that most holders of have trained at dan-grade for longer than he has been alive.
      10. Who is also a ballet instructor.
      11. Who wears spandex in class.
      12. Who wears a "I Love Dance" t-shirt.

Can one get more gay than that?

    I weep. . . .

You should never have played their tippy-tap sparring game, even if that meant not sparring at all with them. I understand you have a slap sparring background in TKD so you may be good at it, but so what. Say you wow them all with your one legged pogo mastery, so what. Then they just think "we need MORE flashy kick no-contact work".

You need to tell them they will NEVER get good at what they don't train. If they want to get good at throwing kicks that HIT thats what they have to train to do. It is a very simple message that wins many over (never everbody, but those are lost causes). Without offering them the truth about why their training is lacking they will only think "more KATA! more SNAP and Flash". Until they know better they will never think and act better.

On a side note to you Broken Fingers or MMAkid or whatever, about 3 months ago we had guy named Daniel join at Travis Lutters school from your school. He came all the time for about a month and disapeared. I would normaly chalk this up to normal white-belt-wash-out, but he said he had been training at your school for like 9 months (past the normal wash "hump"). Did he come back to your school or did I just rat him out for "defecting"?

no popeye forearms or mexican features, he was very average looking (no glasses that I ever saw but people don't wear those rolling), light brown hair and worked in plumbing I think.
