Very good women's thai boxing match

    http://rapidshare.de/files/15938087/...hai_1.mpg.html

Dunno who these two women are or at what level they're competing, but this is some pretty top notch thai boxing.

The girl in red has a very strong command of the ring, keeps edging forward, putting her opponent on the defensive and almost never backs up. She also seems to have a lot of ring experience since she's able to stay very calm throughout the match, takes her time at first, sizing up her opponent and picking her shots, then in the later rounds really presses the attack and goes for the kill. The techniques from both fighters are all very strong and committed and look really sharp.

    http://rapidshare.de/files/14999101/...-2006.wmv.html

This is a recent fight between Ilonka "Killer Queen" Elmont (one of my fav fighters) vs Linda Ooms. They fought a boxing match previously where IIRC Ilonka dominated.

Here again we have one fighter really pressing forward and putting the other on the defensive. Ilonka is a VERY aggressive fighter and really commands the ring in this fight, imo. She moves in, attacks, Linda tries to take advantage of the boxing range where she's probably strongest (I haven't actually seen any of her other kickboxing matches), but Ilonka clinches her right away.

Ilonka's clinch work is really impressive, IMO. She's constantly twisting Linda's upper body and throwing her off balance so that Linda has to fight to stay standing and is unable to really defend. Ilonka throws some very solid looking knees from a tight clinch (something I've been trying to work on, but haven't really gotten comfortable with the range yet), she gets her leg up high and brings it straight in, almost perpendicular to the midsection. The few knees Linda is able to throw she just kind of lifts her leg up and tags Ilonka and it doesn't like she really gets the knees up high enough to go over Ilonka's hip bone.

IMO, Ilonka pretty well dominated this fight with aggression and superior clinch work, but the judges called it a draw for whatever reason. I guess they weren't fond of the clinch or something.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

I really should've just tagged it "very good thai boxing match". Then maybe people would actually bother to look.

Nah, you'll see people flocking to the thread soon. Honest, I've been watching the site for an hour already (waiting for some crap at work), and for some reason your thread wasn't that much visible in the "new posts" list. I noticed it just by mere accident. Patient, young padawan :)
