2006 Mudcat Strongman in Dunnville, Ontario

This will be my third competition and it'll be this Saturday June 10th. I'm driving up Friday night with a friend of mine with a quick stop-over in Buffalo to pick up two other competitors, having the comp Saturday, then driving back Sunday.

Events include:

LOG PRESS FOR REPS: No word on the weight yet, but supposedly a lot lighter than most other competitions. This is more a higher-rep contest as they like to get beginners into strongman. Supposedly it might be 140, which is cool since I should get about 12 reps with it, give or take depending on adrenaline.

TRUCK PULL: A small truck for lightweights, I've been practicing a lot with my sled with some decent weights (~300) for distance and getting the feel for getting down as low as you can. They'll have a rope as well so that should help some.

CAR DEADLIFT FOR REPS: It's going to be a Suzuki Swift on a small platform with handles similar to a farmer's walk instead of the regular deadlift. I've been doing lots of farmer's deadlifts, managed to nail 255 per hand (510 pounds total) and since the Swift's supposed to be fairly light I should be repping it out.

CAR FLIP: Basically as it sounds. We'll be using the Swift again but there's a handle welded to the side so we basically pick it up and flip it over for what sounds like a certain distance. Probably just like flipping a tire, though just different technique.

FARMER'S WALK: This is pretty light too. From what my friend Mike told me, it's 165 per hand for lightweights and it's basically as far as you can go with it in a certain time limit with frequent turns. This is probably my best event out of all of them, so I should do well.

I'll let you know how it all goes. Hopefully should have a lot of pix this time, still waiting on those from the Outback.
