I can't abide by any attempts to approximated force using momentum, at real time scales. That doesn't make sense, even coming from experienced judokas.

Well, there is a complicated formula involving physics, quantum mechanics, and integral calculus, but in the end it all gets multiplied by the chance of a TKD guy actually landing a roundhouse kick in an actual fight, and since that chance is ZERO, the answer is that both the minimum AND maximum force are zero.
Jesus loves you. I think you're an asshole.

I know what you mean dude. Force is force, and momentum is momentum. Apples and oranges.

I got to say my wording came all wrong. The book does not say you can use momentum in place of force. That was my wording that came up all wrong. That was just a simplification for such a short falling distance... I'll get back to you one that one a bit later as I'm doing two things at once.

Just to clarify that the authors do not make that claim...

    *** EDIT ***

plus I wanted to refer more to the transfer of momentum rather than force, which gives a more accurate picture of the damage inflicted upon impact.

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris

I stumbled upon this old thread....

To provide a link of the actual "recorded kick" :

Hulu - Fight Science: Stealth Fighters - Watch the full episode now.@@AMEPARAM@@http://www.hulu.com/embed/kQW-LX4_EEvQp00Gm0N4Cg@@AMEPARAM@@kQW-LX4_EEvQp00Gm0N4Cg

Discovery Ch.'s Fight Science recorded Bren Foster (TKD, Hapkido, Hwarangdo practioner) to have a roundhouse kick of 2300 lbs of force with 136 MPH of peak velocity.

    2006 !!!!

You posted a video into a thread that's FOUR YEARS OLD and it wasn't a particularly good thread then.
