ugh. i just finished spending the past year and a half writing a new ruleset for my home forum. i know these are meant to be taken lightly... i'm trying to get that into my head.

rule one needs more logical definition of the term "silly," which should primarily hinge upon functionality, while still having room to mock people in completely fucking absurd outfits. not counting sho'nuff. he can wear what he wants.

BJJ gi are the difficult area to rule on. Heavyweight gi = functional. Thousands of patches = silly. We don't want people using a functionality argument as a loophole for silliness. Kendo - great sport, silly clothes. I guess they could argue that the hakama disguiise their footwork and since they are a sport where hiding your footwork is a function, then yes I suppose we could allow it. BUT, Aikido - since they only "fight" compliant uke there is no need to hide the footwork.

The backs of my hands are extremely reflective, and when I run it creates hurricanes and tornadoes that make my sleeves ruffle and flutter with the noise of a thousand seagulls in gale force winds, therefore the arm gauntlets are necessary.

And no, ninjas dont tie their gi's to their bodies to minimize noise; it's done to keep us from accidentally teleporting naked.

as far as the rest is concerned: masks are fashionable, leg warmers keep your fucking legs warm, and tabi shoes allow you to identify your own footprints in the snow (which is important if you're ever lost in the arctic).

Or to rephrase, we kendoka don't care what some eclectic fighters think - we're doing this for reasons that you don't care about or understand.

Lol@the Hakama wearers getting all defensive. So kendoka are LARPing at being Samurai that's why they wear skirts. fair play, admit it's LARPing and you can get away with it as per the LARPing Tollerance rule.
