Not to defend Systema or anything, (and I don't know **** about grappling,) but isn't it possible that the photo of that armbar is taken slightly before or after its ideal position, hence making it look bad? Just a thought... I mean, hopefully they aren't posing for the pictures so there's probably a very tight timeframe on when to take a picture.

Your knees should be squeezed together before you lean back. There's not a vast amount of point in doing it otherwise.

Yep it's an exercise - you do front and back, and try to keep the body straight as the stick is lowered.
i keep tryin to spar, but nothin happens!

since when did "pics of disaster" get expanded to include bodyweight excercises and stretching?
(as for the armbar, comrade-uke appears to be tapping, so comrade-tori's technique is evidently good enough for compliant drilling. hopefully he improves on it, though...)
