Yes it's also muay thai without western boxings influence hence the fact their punching is somewhat sloppy. David Scott (my old sensei) included it in one of his books. Personally I love the way they fight in pits rather than rings for a real gladiatorial flavour.muay thai without gloves

From what I recall a MT person telling me, their fighting ruleset gives them really bad habits. Like falling down on purpose after throwing a failed technique. Burmese boxing matches aren't judged, you have to score a KO to win, so you can let yourself fall down without being penalized in any way to avoid the counterattack. This is just word of mouth, though, but you can clearly see that they fall down a lot in the vids.
