are you really that dense? Look at this thread and tell me what percentage of the people you see do BJJ/MT. Is it more or less than 100%?

Yes, to a certain degree, thank you. But, as my title suggests, what *should* I do? As I said, I am looking for self-defence only, really. A lot of posts suggest MT or Judo are good choices, but some posts also higlight the fact that judo will train you more for competition than real-life.

I came here to get help sorting through the bullshit and to save me wasting time and effort. I appreciate your help with this.

for self defense, I recommend taking up football and buying a gun.

No - I am not that dense. I am a newbie. I did read posts concerning Wing Chun, and it seemed that most people replying (and saying WC was crap) seemed to be into BJJ/MT. If this is not the case generally, I was mistaken. Again my apologies, just a newbie trying to avoid abuse long enough to get good advice...

I'd say about 1/4th or less of the active posters on this site do BJJ/MT. Of course, 3/4ths of the active posters on this site are wrong.

Judo or Muay Thai would be fine. Or, better yet, do both!

This place will eat you alive, but can be helpful too, it is a full contact forum remember.

I would not start Martial Arts with a Wing Whatever variant. You have no reference point to judge if you are recieving Bullshido or not. Start with Judo or Boxing. If those are not to tuff on you move up to something more painful like MT or BJJ.

Unless there is an EBMAS program in your area........
