As I said, it is good for your progress in BJJ to get tapped out.. Learn some defenses.. when you get armbar put your hand (of the arm being armbared) on the other arm's bicep (sp)). If they go too hard.. tell them. It is your responsiblity as much as it is theirs to make sure that you don't get injured. When my instructor says 30% ... it means yeah go with less strength.. don't spar... work the the technique... i.e if your working armbar defences.. you armbar.. but allow the person to defend it .. and gradually work up resistance... and vice versa if your working on getting armbar... :P

Ugh...you aren't getting me. I'm not complaining about tapping out, I'm talking about how I tap out when warming up rather than go apeshit and try to defend it till the bitter end when we're only supposed to be going 20%. I know how to defend an armbar =P

So are you saying they are the ones going ape **** and defending to the bitter end. If so put them in their spot. I have no problem doing this if it happens to me and it rarely does.

Or are you saying you don't want to ***** around with the 20% deal?

The former, not the latter. When it's time to roll full out, I'm game, but when the coach specifically states "Only 20%", it's disrespectful to him as a coach and me as a training partner to go all out.

They didn't teach you deportment in kung fu school? The little fork is for shirmp, man.
There's no choice but to confront you, to engage you, to erase you. I've gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain. I will use my mistakes against you. There's no other choice.

Ah, I'm saying, you don't walk into some dude's club, ask them to teach you, then on your first day try to prove your ego by not tapping. I dunno, I just see it as disrespect. It's just like how I wouldn't join a boxing gym and try to kill my sparring partners my first time, and **** like that. Ease in, get to know the situation, and then you can start playing with your full potential.

    Now I'm lost.

Is it going to hard, not tapping, Or ego?

Your first posts are talking about warming up and now you are talking about not tapping.
