Well, probably this video has been posted before, but it's worth re-posting if that's the case.
Click me, I'm the link.
Now, some people here think savate is not a very good art, since it has french origins and they fight in those ugly leotards.
But I know experienced people who fought savate guys and said that those kicks with the tip of the foot (they fight with some kind of boots) can be really painfull.
Besides, the kicks may be effective on the street, since you're wearing shoes there.
Hope you all enjoy this video.
Well, the toe kicks would be a lot better if you were wearing something like wingtips or perhaps high heels. With tennis shoes they would be a lot softer.
I fought a Savate guy once.
And those kicks can be whipped out quickly, and to take a couple of them on my upper thight made me stop moving as much. They really can hurt. The one thing that worked in my favor is that they (or at least the guy I fought) didn't combo with his kicks enough, either he expected to knock me out with the one kick, or he just wasn't experienced enough to follow up with punches. That and my inside game with MT would eat him alive (That is I would follow up with knees and elbows). It is an interesting martial art for sure. I would like to see more people who practice it. BTW, didn't Bruce Lee study some Savate?
Interesting, nice clip.
I appreciate the flow of their combinations. They don't seem to turn the hips over very much, which makes their kicks fast and snappy, seem to lack penetrating power. But with hard shoes on maybe they don't need as much power to do damage and can rely instead on speed and flow. Good stuff.
Aye, I saw this clip posted on another forum and somebody made exactly that comment.

I have the "Tao of JKD" book by Bruce Lee, and it mentions savate kicks, so I guess he was exposed to the art at some point.
That was badass. Awesome clip. I especially liked how well they slipped strikes, and how when they didn't they kept on swinging.
Savate is TKD with shoes!!!!
Savaet gets you dudes! not chicks.
On serious note, why does savate reminds of TKD? Besides fact that they're doing it live, punching, and hands up sometimes...
Because you're an idiot, and whenever you see a kick above the waist you think TKD?

Presumably because their kicks are fast and snappy?
