Supplementation Ethics

In regards to the fairness issue, I forgot a point that I met to bring up; there are no tests that I've ever heard of that can detect the use of Human Growth Hormone or LongR3IGF1, so basically, the ban on supplementation keeps everyone but those who can afford the aforementioned from using-- and I've heard some spectacular things about IGF1 in particular.

Well Insulin is a direct factor in muscle synthesis. As for HGH, that's a territory that in my opinion is very dangerous for younger athletes.

Is HGH even legal? I mean, the real stuff not the crap sprays or pills from Mexican pharmacists.

I'm pretty sure it is by prescription. We have a hormone therapy place around here somewhere that Ronnie Coleman used for a little while, they pumped him with more HGH than any sane man should contemplate using. It's certainly not over the counter, but you can get it mailed directly to you from several companies.

As far as nobody dying from steroids, might want to look into Eddie Guerrero dying at age 38 from heart disease that included a hardening and narrowing of the arteries, enlarged organs, and a number of other problems. Not to mention the 65 other pro wrestlers who died between 1997-2004 who were under 45, 25 of which were from coronary problems.

Others who died from heart problems from steroid use:

Charles Durr. Died at 45 due to coronary problems.

Don Youngblood. Died at 51 due to a heart attack.

Paul "Quadzilla" DeMayo. Died at 37 due to a drug overdose.

Anthony Clark. Died at 38 from a heart attack.

do steriods allow you to reach levels of physical preformance that are unacheivable with plain old hard work. If so then I see the where the unfair advatage arguement is coming from, if they only allow you to reach the same levels you would have without them but faster then I really don't see an unfair advantage, with that arguement you'd have to remove people who are a genetically gifted to reach their peak faster than the average person and make sure that everyone athlete trains in the same exact manner for their respective sports

why not create a "clean" league and a "juiced" league, it would be interesting to see which draws a bigger crowd and possibly have them play each other just to see how they compare

There has been a test available for about 2 years for HGH. I understand it is already in use by the International Olympic Committee.

Koto, is the guy on the last pic you posted doing a reverse bench press or what?

Also, I didn't want to mention it since my knowledge on chemicals is almost zero. But professional sportsmen (specially bodybuilders) dying before they hit the 50's (and we're not talking about just a couple of isolated cases) makes me suspicious.

Yup, that's Anthony Clark. He was one of only a few people who made the reverse grip bench press work well in competition.

A reverse grip bench press allows you to bring the bar down closer to your belly. Because of the back arch, this will greatly reduce the distance the bar has to travel.

The reverse grip bench press was banned many years ago by all governing bodies in all powerlifting competitions because of the huge accident and injury rate stemming from its greatly reduced control of the bar.
