    Hell yeah! Hell no!

I think I've found a good HKD dojang? Advice plz.

A lot of HKD schools in Korea spar with the usual kicks and punches as well as takedowns and subs. But a lot of U.S. HKD schools are pieces of ****.

But I think I've found an HKD school worth looking into. They do the usual "grab my wrist" stuff but they also consistently take part in full contact sparring with kicks, punches, low kicks, takedowns, submissions, and grappling. Do you think it's worth looking into? You might say "just take BJJ" or something but I have an unexplicable fascination with KMA. This seems like a hardcore Korean-style Hapkido dojang. I think I should check it out.

Go to a lesson. If it turns out to be everything you say it is you have no reason not to train there. Oh, see it spars other styles or competes in sanda , kickboxing or some such.

I doubt it will meet your expectations tho

there are some good full contact hapkido places out there, they can be few and far between these days.

i agree with going to check it out and see what the training is like. at our school it is apparent very quickly that free fighting is a big part of what we do if this school is serious about live training then you should have opportunity to see people moving around with each other even in your first class.

if they have a special separate sparring session try and get them to let you come and check the school out on that day so you can get a good look at what they do.

Like they said up nyah ^, check it out and see whatcha think about it, take price into consideration too. If it looks like something you might want to do and they want to pull a McDojo and charge $150 for 3 lessons, you should be roundhouse-ed for considering it.

Look at the people taking the class too, if it;s a bunch of 10 year olds then going there will be no good, even if the style is great you won't get any better fighting pre-teens. See how the Sensei does his lessons and how he interacts with everyone, some ass hole Senseis prefer to strut their stuff rather than teach the lesson, yes it's sad to see such corruption but I've seen it happen.

Sensei???? Take that bottle of sake and smash it over your head, please.

Korean instructors are Sahbumnims or Gwanjangnims.
