    Joke? I love prickly pear fruit. It tastes great, especially as a margarita flavoring. I am still trying to find some wine made from the stuff, but no luck so far.

    The fruits also make wonderful projectile weapons, especially when ripe enough to explode on impact.

    Awesome pics, man. :) We got a few growing here in sunny Florida too, but they generally don't get much bigger than say the size of a lunchbox in the suburbs where I live.

    Also, the big thorns are no problem, it's those teeny little splinter-sized ones that are a real pain.

    You can also eat the pad. Its a trad. mexican dish called nopales. Tastes kind alike green beans. My grandma used to make them in the spring when they are tender.
