First off, how do you get this idea that it is a some kind of gimmick or marketing? As I said before, its a term used to describe a concept and an overall training philosophy. As far as I know, SBGi nor anyone sells t-shirts or any other items with "aliveness" on it...perhaps you confuse it with "Gameness". In any case, you are wrong. It isn't anything more than a word used to describe (more accurately, IMO) training in a no bullshit manner.

It's ok if you don't like it. But I think you are spouting unsubstantiated claims to back up your opinion.

Can you prove to me that it's a marketing gimmick?

three cheesy terms in one sentence. Well done. Do people who do Judo, MT, kickboxing, boxing, sambo etc need these terms? would their training be better?
Oh so everything is cheesy to you. Ok. Whatever. I think your argument is cheesy as well as your know-it-all attitude.

Maybe they don't need the term. But an ongoing review, discussion and accurate understanding of the concepts and philosophies embodied by the term aliveness is always beneficial. Using the term aliveness is simply a no-mistake way many use to identify with proper training concepts; unlike a vague word like "resistance", which could mean different things to different people. I think that there are a lot of folks that train those arts that could benefit from a better understanding of aliveness.

where have i tried to invalidate the idea of aliveness???? i just think the term is cheesy
Ok, I misunderstood your repeatedly calling it retarded, cheesy and a marketing gimmick was an attempt to invalidate the term and the ideas behind it.

when would they need to say it?

well theyd know it, cos they post here. but no one have ever said it. I'll ask why not
So what you are really saying is that noone on Bullshido who you think is worth a **** has ever used that word with you nor posted using it (that you know of).

Maybe you should take oldman's advice and use the search function...

Also, have a look at this thread-

    http://www.bullshido.net/forums/showthread.php?t=30283

Aesopian thinks this is required viewing. Why? Because the concept of aliveness and what matt talks about goes hand in hand with what Bullshido is all about. Exposing bullshit arts and bullshit training.

When you use the term aliveness more often than not, it will spark a discussion with people who don't know what it is. This opens up an opportunity for that person to learn something about proper training if they aren't aware. If you use the word resistance, many people will just assume they know what you are talking about, even if they really don't. And that's the whole point of it to me.

So if you want to call that a marketing gimmick, then so be it. I'm all for that kind of marketing.

    you mean sparing???, drilling? resisting?
No, I mean playing patty cake with your mom.

    It is a marketing gimmick.
    Prove it.

is it a concept or a term? Do you know the difference?

    E. Eductated and like all those MAers on MMA.tv, sherdog etc doesnt need to feel special about the way i train.
I've covered that. See above and re-read previous posts, Matt's blog, etc...

You keep bringing up those other forums like they are the "keepers of all knowledge". they are not. Just because something isn't used there doesn't mean everyone agrees with your opinions about it.

    Or, if they do...prove it.

These two morons dont know ****. They are sock puppets. **** 'em.

They have dropped all pretenses of a discussion because they have been pwned, repatedly, by us.

Uglygayman, has no point other than to be a trolling sock puppet.

Mawfuckingqueer whatever, has changed his tune from his original post also showing that he is just a troll.

He is like ar549, who makes statements, and when asked to back them up he just dodges the question.

Dont waste any more time with them.

5.0 is a gimmick to keep the students they have and bring in more capitalizing on the MMA craze. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves, or works for Speakman.

While he went about it in a good way (not discovering it had been there all along) it is still a marketing ploy for Kenpo.

Well I figured I was probably debating with a doorknob and being trolled, but for the benefit of the noob that stumbles across this, I went ahead and refuted the arguments.
