Recently I've taken to listening to Internet Radio in the background while I'm at my desk at work. Last week I listened to Air America, but this week I've been listening to a fringe Populist station out of Austin.

And not to get all tinfoil hatty here, but a lot of what they said about us either being guided or stumbling into a One World Government and the erosion of individual/local/states rights in favor of an overpowered Federal government made sense. Yeah, there were some kooky things spoken of, but you can't ignore the trends.

We have in the US, a false dichotomy system of two pseudo-parties. One pays lip service to Liberals, and one pays lip service to Conservatives, while both work to increase the size of the Federal government and chip away at personal freedoms.

And people have been lulled into a false sense of comfort and don't seem to care what their government is doing as long as it's not immediately affecting them.

Things like video cameras on street corners, or mandatory government wiretapping ability integrated into new Voice over IP systems wouldn't have been tolerated 50 years ago. But now, people just don't give a crap.

I'm glad Bolton is at the UN, as he's a huge critic of it. But I don't see anything being done to slow down the march towards hyper globalism in the next 100 years before **** gets ugly.

And the saddest thing about it is that only people on the fringe have noticed this trend.

Neither the Republicrats or the Demopublicans is a good choice. It's high time we had a populist president to shake up the system and clear out some of the corruption.

Ross Perot might have been able to do the job. Someone like Jesse Ventura would be a good choice as well.

But the two party monopoly needs to be broken, and soon.

On a serious note, I think it would be stupid to stop American's from owning guns. I also think it would be stupid to allow Brits to own guns.
Fucking with a system that has been in place for some time is excessively risky. For example, in the UK, I'm fairly sure that the first people to get guns (if they were suddenly allowed) would be criminals and the "tally ho , chocs away, mine's a double" toffs. Not so bad, as they would hopefully kill each other off. But I don't know of any "ordinary" Brits who want guns.

Conservatives and moderates: try to get your liberal friends (hey, make some), women especially (hey, meet some), to go shooting with you.

In many cases they will enjoy it, feel empowered in a way they never imagined, and the direct personal experience will begin to overcome their irrational fears.

If the UK's citizens were allowed to carry and use firearms for self defense, the UK would not have Chavs.

Period.

People are a thousand times more polite to each other when there's a chance that the guy you're thinking about happy slapping might be armed.
