He's not old enough to be good yet.

    You don't get red belts.

    You get cherry belts.

Jumping General Choi's Batman, you're right! Quick to the Dangoon mobile and a quick return to the Chungmoo Cave for a look at the GaeBek computer!

Yes I was going to go with Kenpo Yellow Belt but TKD BB seemed more snappy and flashy somehow.

What does that have to do with Georges St.Pierre? While marketing has played its role in the style fighters have represented in the past, see Tank Abbott, I dont think that is the case here.

Anyways, my point is that to claim a fighter as a certain style, simply becuase they have trained in it at one point or another is pointless. These days everybody has trained in everything.

The true make of a fighters style is in what they do, how they win their fights. Anyone can argue that, "well he does boxing too", or, "thats because he does muay thai".

But you can't argue Nog wins his fights with BJJ, and I wouldnt argue if a guy claiming TKD came out and threw predominantly kicks to win the fight.

I've often told people I'm training or training with that your training needs to be task specific. When we have someone getting ready for an MMA event the style of training is MMA, not boxing on Tuesday, TKD on Wednesday etc etc etc.

This would be like training to race a triathlon without ever putting all the events together at some time to see how they work. My point with Nog and George is that regardless of their skill in any other area they are at the core MMA fighters. Perhaps we're making the same point. Even with a TKD black belt and a lot of time in the ring I don't look like a TKD fighter in the ring. Actually I get accused of being a Jiu Jitsu fighter.

The funny thing is, if you told the average person who has his kids in a mall class, that TKD sucks, because it won't work in MMA/UFC, they look at you like a fool. They don't want their kids preped for MMA, and they aren't really worried about self defense out in the 'Burbs. The just want their kid to have fun. Getting armbarred is no fun for most little kids, but jumping around and kicking pads and wearing chest gear, so you don't get all brusied, is fun. That said, the TKD I see now is a horrible travesty- the heel doesn't rotate, and the hip doesn't drive the kick. the sidekick is a weak version of a "teep" kick. When I started, it was much closer to Kyukoshin. But now, Yeech.

No, when little Timmy gets a black belt, Timmy thinks he's tough **** and mommy thinks he can handle the common bully. When that weiner kid Dwayne takes Timmies toy doll and Timmy can't do **** about it, mommy will be like "WTF?"
