Also let's remember that L9H says that "splashing hands" is called San Soo, or San So, or something like that. San Shou can easily be confused with a couple of other Chinese arts out there. When your looking for San Shou be sure that you are getting into San Shou and not some other system with a similar sounding name.

He took with him two of the Buddhist training texts which probably date back to the 1500’s during the Ming Dynasty. These books have remained within the Chin family, where the techniques and forms were taught and passed down from generation to generation. All of the techniques and forms taught to and by Jimmy came from these two manuals."

    HELLS NO.

The reason I dislike San Soo is because it sounds perilously close to China's Full Contact Kickboxing San SHOU.

Thus, people get the full contact kickboxing mixed up with a CMA that I personally dislike for various reasons.

Regarding the topic. I think crosstraining in any sort of full contact standup style along with a grappling style is a great idea. Note that most people will have to branch out of CMA for this unless they have an extremely rare CMA school or live near a San Shou gym.

Crap. Everyone got all indignant about San Shou before I could...

Just a note, it's also called Sanda in a lot of places.
