    Your Favourite Aphorism?

Bullshido posters often end their posts with a favourite pithy quote or smartarse remark. The demotivations posters are excellent examples of aphoristic wit. What are people's favourite aphorisms, maxims, sayings, and the like? Have you written any of your own? I'll start off with a few:

    - Fashion: the most expensive way of ‘just following orders’.

    - Shoppers are simply cowardly gamblers – they want to be sure of their losses.

    - People who crave immortality do not love life – they hate it, for they require eternity to be hopeful about it.

    - Addiction is when a distraction from life becomes life itself.

    - Postmodernity: that period of loud, self-conscious flatulence between a rich meal and bedtime.

    - Weak friends are like wounded beasts: they attack those closest to them, worsen their own injuries, and quickly forget who cared for them.

    - Philosophers should enter academia as they would a child’s playhouse – clumsily, with heads bowed.

    - John Howard wants to see Australians ‘relaxed and comfortable’ – just like a hypnotist…

    - The Labor Party, or ‘Liberal Lite’ – for party-goers who require intoxication, but who can’t stomach the stronger brew.

The rain, it raineth on the Just and the Unjust fella. But chiefly on the Just because the Unjust steals the Just's umbrella.

Atheists are people who have no invisible means of support.

If you act like a dumbshit, they'll treat you as an equal.

It's not that life is too short, it's that death is too long.

    *******
I actually wouldn't mind the bullshido fraudsters if they thought like this, but they are all just as delluded as those they dellude:

All men have the right to dig their own graves, and I have the right to sell them the shovels.

    *******
God, I'm a miserable bastard, lol.

In my youth I wished that life were fair.

Now that I'm older I take great comfort in the fact that life is not fair.

I would hate to think we deserve everything that happens to us.
People often tell me that I fail to see the gravity of the situation.
I see the gravity, and I say...

Step right up folks and watch me defy gravity!

    - Racism and self-pity walk hand in hand.
    - If time is a drug then Big Ben is a hypodermic needle injecting it into the sky.
    - Charity degrades.
    - Sentimentalists are the worst cynics.
    - Never assume a wretch always deserves pity.
    - Inside every revolutionary is a policeman trying to get out.
    - Stupidity is a state of mind.
    - It is well that war is so terrible--we should grow too fond of it
    - Quotes exist to make the unimaginative look smart.

    - Right-wing philosophy: the world’s most popular oxymoron.

    - Uncle Sam the teenage puritan – terrified of masturbation, he dutifully fucks the world.

    - We often hear: ‘Sometimes I’m a bit of a philosopher.’ Be careful – even a bit of hemlock can kill you…

    There are two kinds of people in the world;
those who believe there are two kinds of people in the world,
    and those who don't.

I haven't any of my own.

    My favorite is -

    sapere aude!
He who attains his ideal by that very fact transcends it- Nietzsche

I like my Te like I like my tea- from Fujian province and without any bullshit in it. Oh, and green. And scented with jasmine blossoms...
