Lots of marketing and a little bit of metallurgy and ballistics. Any quality, reputable hollowpoint will suffice. One thing I WOULD look for in a round is high velocity rather than frangibility or other weird and wonderful gimmicks. You can't rely on any single bullet to perform as advertised, but the velocity of the round can be a consistent factor.

I would agree with the above. I also have had bad luck with the gold dot's over penetraiting. I like 125gr half jacket hollow points from seierra they are Cheap, high velocity, and mushroom in the most pleaseing way. I also shoot .357 primarily since i do not have a Semi-auto handgun anymore.

Both are excellent bullets. but personally i like more bullet mass over higher velocity. But you'll find supporters in both camps.

i'm REALLY waiting for EFMJ bullets to get popular, because i like the idea of bullets expanding on impact instead of relying on hydraulics. -

honestly, shoot both for a while, and see which one you can make better hits with (not better groups exactly... but hits from a cold gun) and if there's a recoil difference.

P.S. read tag line, I believe it was Wyatt Earp that said it, not Sam Colt.
Have a great Kenpo day
