haha.
more on topic, I'm told that before he died my grandpa had some of his old service weapons. Apparently he was allowed to keep them afterwards. He had a couple of m1s and I think a browning was what my dad said. Never got to play with them though, they sold them after the funeral.http://woodwardswhiskey.wordpress.com/

That's really too bad; those were history! When I hold my K31, I can't help but wonder how many cold nights of guard watch some poor Swiss kid must have stood with it in his hands, wondering if the Nazis would ever come over the border.
This weekend, a friend reported that someone turned in a Korea-era M1 carbine in the box in like-new condition at the so-called "gun buyback." They were giving otu $100 gift cards to get guns off the street. Thank God they got that one before it killed again!
He said the police on scene were sympathetic but stopped short of letting him throw it in his trunk and leave $1000 on the table. :) -

You know you can get some of those korean/WWII M1s that are in good condition from the civilian markmanship program fro about 500-700 bucks. They have thier place in ohio at Ft. perry. Usually, they mail order, but I think you can pick one out if you go on base.
That is a shame though--that those gangs are using those 30.06 kopkillaz in those old rifles. They probably dont even have a sense of history.....http://woodwardswhiskey.wordpress.com/
