    wasn't it funny when amanda vanstone (correct spelling?) said in a talk somewhere that much of this terror alert nonsense was of no real use and was only to make people feel better?

    all the millions we have spent on posters and fridge magnets, what a waste of time.

    ah, that's it. i put a lot of these other measures in the useless pile too, i must have associated her statement more strongly with poster and fridge magnets at the time.
