Yes, but the point that guy's coach/friend was trying to make was that he had to try his hardest to stay standing rather than just going with the flow and taking it to the ground willingly - work standup punching rather than trying to get him down first, because an untrained guy against a wrestler is going to get even more dominated the second he hits the ground. Of course, if you're an untrained guy going up against a trained competitive fighter, the choice really isn't in your hands, as people here have rightfully said.
