Wow balloon! We actually agree on something? Is it because both of us know that Monks are generally pacifist?

I would pay to watch a monk in a MMA event.

Yea Yanfei is one of the best fighters I've ever seen, i've only witnessed one other guy who matched him, and that was Shi Yanzi (who was a San Shou bigshot).

Yanfei totally destroyed some of the earlier bouts he had, he even did a couple of "Homer Simpson" moves by blocking with his head...awesome. The guy can take immense amounts of punishment and still be able to continue. As for going pro at Thai boxing, he's qualified to enter the nationals next March, but on a competition of that scale, i think he has to get permission from his master.

He will be visitng the UK this coming Saturday for 1 day to meet up with his monk brothers (Yanzi, Yanlei and Yanjiang).

That would be great to see what a monk can do... I've seen some demonstrations but never a real fight. That would be awesome!!!!

I used to be (and still am in certain cases) a firm believer in MMA, but my opinion was changed radically when i first saw how monks fight in actual combat.

When you see monks do their demos, it's highly impressive but they rarely demonstrate combat. I was fortunate enough to be part of the "Wulin GaoSao tour" in Taiwan, that's where i first witnessed Shi Yanfei fighting in a SenDa ring. I've seen him (and other monks) prove countlessly that their method of training really does work in a fight.

So in MMA versus TMA, i'd say about 75% of wins goes to MMA, but there are style rare pockets of phenominal TMA exponents out there.
