can i just say, i'm running through the questionnaire thing, and the questions are highly suggestive and leading, and unclear. I have a particular problem with this one
"Given a choice, I would prefer to defend myself with...
my bare hands
an ineffective weapon, such as pepper spray
an effective weapon, such as a firearm" -

Dear forum specific Mod,
I'm just seeking clarity on what gun opinions are allowed in the Armoury forum, specifically.
Could you answer these two questions, please.
Am I allowed to advance non pro-ownership opinions in the Armoury?
Yes or no.
I have read the sticky by the way.
If I am allowed to advance non pro-ownership policies in the Armoury, what kind of threads are those opinions not allowed in?
Thanks for any clarification you can provide. -

I have no issue if you want to start a well thought out thread discussing the pros and cons of gun ownership within a society as that relates to LEOs, military, etc. What I do take issue with is derailing a thread to discuss such things. For instance, if you had provided some sort of statistical evidence when you stated that a record number of LEOs had been killed in 2011 due to prolific gun ownership in America, I personally would have left that alone, as long as the thread wasn't totally derailed.
In general, the assumption for the Armory is that if you are posting here, you have an interest in guns, knives, militaria, etc (much like if you post in the advanced grappling forum, you are more likely to be train BJJ, wrestling, or Judo than you are to train shotokan karate). If you are actively anti-gun ownership, I would personally prefer that you post your thoughts in Boff Topic or Sociocide, to avoid creating a new Gun Ownership Pro/Con chart every few months."No. Listen to me because I know what I'm talking about here." -- Hannibal -

Judo_UK, I saw the thread you were referring to. Normally, Gun politics are saved for the Political Forum aka Sociocide. The armory is a place to discuss weapon systems and firearms without political arguments.
Now with a thread like "Record number of LEOs Killed in line of duty in 2011" its hard not to dive into politics of gun control as it obviously part of the issue. I made the call the leave it another mod make the call the to move it. But generally the answer is no, gun politics belong to Sociocide.
