Remember to try the throat choke from inside his guard. Then report back with your good arm how well it worked.

If you're just training I say go for the actual, technical RNC blood choke. If you can get the forearm throat choke instead, don't take it. Try to get your arm around for the full RNC. In competition, do what it takes to get the tap I guess, but don't hurt a training partner's trachea.
btw I've seen Rickson have someone's back in an MMA fight, and he had the front of the throat, but he didn't take it. Kept rolling the guy over and pulling his forehead up to get a good RNC. But that's rickson of course. -
