Rampage knocks Judo in an interview

He basically says that wrestling is better than Judo and an experienced wrestler always has an edge on an experinced judoka because the takedowns are better.

By the way, you can embed YouTube videos in a post by going to the "embed" section, copying it and extracting the URL. Then placing it between CLIP tags like you would an IMG.

I guess this is worth delurking for.

Rampage is comparing apples to oranges.

We could start some pointless dick measuring thread about this, but what would be the point? For every example one side would show, the other side would just come up with some counter example. The argumant would go as follows:

Wrestling advocate interweb attack#1
Wreslting is better because you don't need a gi.

Judo advocate Counter #1
Judo throws don't need a gi. See: Karo Parisyan.

Judo advocate interweb attack#1
Bjj is derived from judo, and BJJ is the **** so Judo is the ****.
Wresling advocate Counter#1
Bjj also has wrestling elements

Wrestling advocate interweb attack#2
Greats like Randy Couture, Liddell, and Ortiz come from a wrestling background.
Judo advocate Counter #2
Fedor.

Then we would descend into pointless anecdotes.

Judo advocate interweb attack#2
I've seen Wreslters get subbed by Judoka.
Wresling advocate Counter#2
I've seen Wrestlers GnP judoka till they cry.

This would continue until everyone gets bored.

All in all, this comes down to his personal opinion, and I don't think Ramage's is all that qualified. Rampage couldn't keep straight wether he was talking about Judo or Juijitsu. In addtition, he said that Dong Sik Yoon(The Judoka that Rampage faught in pride 31) used wrestling takedowns, not Judo takedowns. Rampage should go back and rewatch his own fight. Dong Sik Yoon gets the first takedown with Hiza-Garuma, then later with Morote Gari(judo double leg). In addition, Ramapage should consider that he got taken down and mounted by a complete tomato can with zero marks in the win column.

Edited because Word has made me too stoopid to spell.

Very true. Living in Stillwater Oklahoma where wrestling ranks just behind guns and god, I have has a fair share of experience with wrestlers. Non-Gi, wrestlers usually get the takedown on me, from there, it totally depends on the individual I am fighting. Some wrestlers are easy to tap, and some will roll you all over the mat. Both sports are good, however wrestlers are some of the best-conditioned athletes around, and that means a lot.

In my highly unqualified opinion of wrestling, I think the highly competitive nature of the sport is its biggest strength. There are “weekend” Judo people who only go to class once a week and are content to have a little fun. Whereas wrestlers seem to take things on average more seriously and train harder. There is very rarely (as this I’ve encountered) a half-committed, weekend wrestler.

On another note, isn’t the section to knock other martial arts? Quick, someone call me a pajama wearing fag before everything is thrown out of balance.

I think judo has submissions, which are awesome.

Wrestling has turkish oil checks, which are not awesome.

Judo has snazzy outfits

Wrestling has stripper quality clothes. I don't know how I feel about that.

Older guys that do Judo are lumped in with people that haven't "out grown" tae kwon do and that sucks...wrestlers are associated with Pro Wrestling...so I guess it's a kind of suck-tie, over all.
