Yea, i heard that story was b.s. too, but anyways....

Let me get this straight. You guys are permitted, by law, to carry a gun or knife around, as long as you have a permit???!!!

What are the requirements for such certification?

Has anyone here ever shot or stabbed a person?

Sorry, this seems extreme to me. I knew americans are allowed to have one at home. But to tote around everyday? Crazy!

Better to have it when you need it, i guess??

I don't understand why that comes as a surprise, cops carry guns all the time, and besides it's only written into one of the core documents outlining our system of government.

You make it sound like it's a big deal to carry around. It's about as much of a hassel for me to carry my gun as it is for me to carry my drivers liscense and cell phone.

It's legal under circumstances which differ from state to state. Generally, you are required to have no criminal convictions nor incidences of domestic violence, and you must submit fingerprints and a mug shot and wait 30 days. Some states have stricter laws, with Illinios and Wisconsin denying this right to thier citizens.

Laws surrounding knives are stricter than those against guns. Because they are a "punk weapon," cheap and readily available, almost all states ban carrying knives larger than 3" (or 5cm for you Canucks.)

Not legal to carry a loaded gun here (in the state of Illinois) but no permit is needed to carry a knife.

We also have two states (Alaska and Vermont) where no permit is needed to carry a firearm. More on the way.

Police and criminals should not be allowed a monopoly on deadly force.

Police, criminals, and Don Gwinn...you ham-fisted son of a bitch.

To be consistent with Bullshido policey, I will now derail this thread.

I put a arched MSH, and a tungsten guide rod on my Colt 1991a1.

STILL has a little more of a up-and-left snap compared to that -f-ing SW 1911-type-thing.

Remember that brief conversation, we had? Anyway...

Next thing to try...a drop-in beavertail.

Also...in the bizarre chance that Illinois adopts a concealed carry law, let me be, perhaps, the first to inform you that the CC qual Illinois has just put forth to accomodate the retired LEO thing is quite easy. Presumably it would apply to everyone else.

30 rounds. Starts at 15 feet. No timed fire. I wouldn't worry.... not that you would.

State of Colorado requires no prior felony convictions (state law. 3rd degree simple assult is no barrier.) no DV (federal law) and to take a class from a certified instructor.

This insttructor can be certified by any number of means, NRA, CCSA, ect. I received mine when i worked from my local communications center. The class I took was through the countie's police academy. After you do that the state is a SHALL ISSUE ie you cannot be denied aslong as you meet these requirements adn pay you $150 for you back ground check and finger prints.

As far as shot or stabbed any one.....never even drawn my weapon. I would like to keep it that way.

The other nice thing about Colorado is it is an open carry state. So if you dont want to jump through hoops you can carry in the open (not concealed) with no permit, and no class.

I just realized kikkoman came close to pulling the Canadian trifecta.

    1. Do you own a gun eh?

    2. How many times have you been shot eh?

    3. How many people have you shot eh?

Keinhaar, I don't know what anybody told you, but I don't do concealed carry. That would be against the law. I'm blushing over here.

I do fanny-pack-carry an unloaded gun on occasion just to flip anti-gunners the bird.

In Kikkoman's defence, I lived in Edmonton for a long time. You can't walk around strapped. At all. (except LEO's....duh) Not even knives. Concealed weapon.
No permits for it AFAIK. You can get a Firearms Acquisition Cetificate (after extensive background check) which allows you to buy certain firearms but you have to transport it with a gun lock, in a lock box, in the trunk, ammo seperate. Oh, and you have to be going to the range, or hunting with a valid permit to transport it away from the house.

Canada is crazy. There are bears, coyotes, and cougars encroaching into the subburbs, but i can't shoot them. WTF.

The other day an american came to the school and i was looking at guns either on bullshido, or to post here. He said: "I thought canadians were afraid of guns?!"

I replied: "Naw man, the Gov't is afraid to let us have them!"
