Actually he is pretty bad ass, like shoving bodies down a sink drain.
Why? I don't know cuz he is bad ass.
People often tell me that I fail to see the gravity of the situation.
I see the gravity, and I say...

Step right up folks and watch me defy gravity!

When one is a big fan of the video game it becomes a lot easier to be disappointed the game's movie interpretation. I set my expectations pretty low in order to alleviate any disappointment I may feel due to the movie's quality, but there are probably a lot of fanboys who didn't.

    Spoiler:
As someone who played only a little of the 1st game, I saw it as she was "seduced" by the demon. I DO think it was an actual demon, perhaps one that feeds on vengeance. There's clearly an outside, supernatural influence at work. The demon reveals the horrible **** that these people did to Alessa, and she empathizes with her. "All we want is revenge", it says. She wants to help her, out of motherly instinct, so she gives in to Alessa's feelings of revenge. Hell, she even whacks that one guy who tries to get away. And when all is said and done, she just wants Sharon back.

Not sure what to make of the ending though. The two "girls" are rejoined and Rose still seems in the demon's thrall. What's up with that and why doesn't Rose seem to care that she's still in the alternate world?

Look, it's one thing to be able to walk the path of Hell and feel no fear. It's another thing to be able to walk the path of Hell and ACTIVELY RAPE THE DEMONS YOU ENCOUNTER.

The movie was fantastic if you have played the Silent Hill games, and OK if you haven't...

So, since you people are really into Silent Hill could you please tell me: What exactly IS Silent Hill? I only played through half of SH1 (quit because I found it to be dull and stupid) and I never realized why this town was so bizarre. I read on some website that it mirrors and incarnates the dark secrets of those who visit or something like that. What is it?

Here's a link to a good plot analysis of the first Silent Hill game.

I saw the movie last night, and as a fan of the games I thought it was very well done.

Thanks. I am now, uh, enlightened.....I guess.

I hate what passes for horror in Japanese video games. Except for Clock Tower 1, that was pretty cool. Being chased by an unkillable demonic midget with a four-foot pair of scissors and the perseverance of Wile E. Coyote was excellent.

Silent Hill is definitely not your typical horror game. When I first started played SH1, my reaction was similar to yours: WTF? But I continued playing...and slowly the game started to get more and more disturbing, and it really started creeping me out.
