Aren't they basically two different versions of the same basic skill set? Why must judoka and wrestlers strive with each other? Let them unite and destroy the TKDers.

OK OK... for 10 bucks I'll get them to after chunners first. Besides, wing chun will be a nice warm up to TKD.

just a comment by silly me...but isnt wrestling better then judo? I mean on a whole I think wrestlers have much better takedown skills. Judo does have submissions which wrestlers lack but most judo schools dont go into to much depth with them. Isnt the emphasis more on fancy throws since it became an olympis sport?

Meh. That's fine. As long as I still get to pick on the ninjers.

I agree. A professional fighter in the largest MMA organization in the world really has no business talking about martial arts.

    Sarcasm noted.

But I guess you're right. Simply being an MMA fighter must make him the final word on Judo's effectivness. Even if he's too uninformed to know when he has been taken down by a Judo technique, that wouldn't call his opinion into question at all. No sir.

Hey, you know what? I heard Giant Silva question the effectivness of muay thai in a clinch the other day. I guess since he's a professional fighter in the largest MMA organization in the world, I'd be out of place questioning his point of view. Silly me. I guess I have no business talking about martial arts.

    1. No, while they may seem similar, wrestling and judo are quite different.

    2. I'm not so sure what you meant by "strive with each other".

That's how it always seemed to me. Judo just has a hundred names for hip throws whereas wrestling has "hands here or here or here". And they move their feet somewhat differently.

That said, wrestlers seem to scramble for position better than judoka.

You've never been thrown by a fancy judo throw, have you?

The street argument is retarded. BJJ is so much overkill for the street that its ridiculous. Unless you're the idiot that picks a fight with the high school wrestling team, barring knife or gun play, the opponent shouldn't make it past double leg + ground and pound - Osiris
